Human Environment Interaction Intro Page-02

Page #68

About this Page: And last, but not least, HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION! That’s right folks. That means we are in the last handful (ok two handfuls) of pages for this unit. The light is starting to show at the end of the tunnel. Dan Harris whipped out two Claudius Ptolemys for me, while I knocked out the top tsunami scene and background. You can tell my strengths do not include the drawing of people (enter Dan). Here is his Patreon website.

And if you though Plato looked good, wait until you’ve seen Eratosthenes, Huntington, Ritter, and Humboldt!

I’ve thought about this page for a long time; the stilted homes, tsunami, and the town that hadn’t faced mother nature yet. One of my grad classes addressed the topic of “Mother Nature,” and why nature is gendered in this way. It was quite fascinating, but it mostly came down to the Earth’s responsibility to nurture it’s people. I’m pretty sure there was something else about the male’s role in trying to dominate nature. Humans can only do so much. My almost three-year old is currently enthralled with the solar system. Watching countless videos and listening to solar-system songs (oh you didn’t know that was a thing?), reminds you how small we are, Earth.
